Why it's called joinery

Carpentry that's made, not bought.

Joinery is the old word for it. Instead of screwing store-bought boxes to the wall, we cut the joints ourselves, in our own shop: dovetails, mortise and tenon, solid face frames. Then we bring the finished pieces to your house and fit them to your walls, which are never quite straight.

  • Solid hardwood frames and doors. Cabinet-grade plywood boxes, never particleboard.
  • Scribed to your walls, floors and ceilings on site, so there are no filler strips or caulk gaps.
  • Drawn, made and fitted by the same two or three people. You'll know their names.

    $2,800–$3,800

This is a ballpark, not a quote. Your walls, the wood and the details move the number. The real price comes in writing after a free visit: we measure, draw it, and price it to the dollar before anything is made. Built from our from-price of $2,800.

    How we work

    You know the price
    at step three.

No deposit to talk, no number that changes once we're in. Here's the whole thing, in order.

    1. 01

      We visit

Free. We measure, look at the walls and floors, and listen to what you want.

    2. 02

      We draw it

A scaled drawing of your piece, in your room. You change it until it's right.

    3. 03

      Quote in writing

One fixed price, itemized. It doesn't move unless you change the drawing.

    4. 04

      Made in our shop

Cut, joined and finished at our benches in Springfield. Visit and see it.

    5. 05

      Fitted by us

The same people scribe it to your walls, fit the doors and sweep up.

From the people we've built for
“We gave them a crooked 1920s wall and a vague idea. They came back with a drawing, a price on one page, and six weeks later a bookcase wall that looks like it was built with the house. Not one gap against the plaster.”
    ClaireYellow Springs · March 2026

“The window seat drawers glide like they're on runners, and they're not. Solid oak, dovetailed. The kids fight over who gets to sit there.”

    MarcusBeavercreek · May 2026

“The quote came in writing and the final bill matched it to the dollar. They swept up every evening before they left.”

    DeniseSpringfield · July 2026

“Our stair was glued-down carpet and a wobbly rail. Now it's white oak treads and a handrail you actually want to hold.”
